
11 states and the Federal Capital Territory reported 176 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, according to figures released on Saturday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
The agency also reported five additional COVID-19 related deaths.
The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Saturday.
The FCT recorded the highest number of new infections with 73 cases followed by Plateau – 25, Rivers – 20, Kano – 18, Lagos – 15, Bauchi – 9, Osun – 8, Ekiti – 3, Edo – 2, Bayelsa – 1, Niger – 1, and Sokoto – 1.
The health agency said the 176 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 210,136.
However, 198,117 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.
With five COVID-19 related deaths reported, the death toll from the virus has risen to 2,855, the NCDC said.
