
Speakers of the 36 state Houses of Assembly in Nigeria on Saturday called on the federal government to declare bandits and kidnappers as terrorists, adding that kidnapping and banditry should be dealt with decisively. This was part of the resolutions contained in a communique read after their deliberations during the 2021 Third Quarter General Meeting in Katsina.
The Speakers decried the spate of insecurity in Nigeria and resolved to work out legislative frameworks to complement the effort of the Federal Government to fight the menace. The communique also revealed that the legislators resolved to make appropriate laws to address fundamental issues causing insecurity and those that would create employment for the youth.
The communique further read, “The conference while commending the governors who have given assent to the fund management bills passed by respective state assemblies called on other state governors who are yet to do so to give assent to the bill for effective and efficient implementation of financial autonomy across the nation.”

n a Facebook post shared by the spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, COAS Faruk solicited the support of the foreign government in the provision of sophisticated equipment to assist the fight against all forms of terrorism in the country.
