Kone’s 48 minute penalty gives Mali edge over Tunisia

Ibrahima Kone scored a penalty as Mali beat Tunisia 1-0 to claim all three points in Group F opener on Wednesday.

Mali got a penalty on 48 minutes and Kone won the battle of wills and sent an unstoppable penalty past Bechir Ben Said into right side of the goal.

Tunisia got a life-line to equalise on 77 minutes from the penalty spot, but the Malian goalkeeper saved the ball.

Wahbi Khazri sent the penalty towards the left hand side of the goal, but Ibrahim Mounkoro pulled off a wonderful save to deny him.Earlier, Khazri fired the resulting free kick towards the roof of the net from the edge of the box, but Mounkoro pulled off a superb save to deny him.

On 87 minutes, El Bilal Toure was sent off by the referee for a dangerous challenge on a Tunisian player.
