2027: ‘I’m a Strong Candidate to Beat’ – Obasanjo’s Daughter Declares

Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, daughter of former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo, has expressed confidence that she is a strong contender in the 2027 governorship race in Ogun State.

Speaking during an interview on The Morning Brief on Channels Television on Friday, the former lawmaker discussed her return to active politics, her ambition to become governor, and the support she expects from her family.

Obasanjo-Bello, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections, said her experience and political record place her in a strong position in the race.

The former senator also expressed confidence that members of her family, including her parents, would support her bid at the polls.

According to her, being close to 60 years old, she considers herself fortunate to still have both her father and mother alive, noting that she does not feel the need to consult them on every career decision.

She added that while joining the APC was a personal decision, she is certain her parents will cast their votes for her.

Obasanjo-Bello further maintained that her political track record makes her a formidable candidate and expressed optimism about emerging victorious in the contest.

She stressed that although the political space is often dominated by men, she believes she has the same level of support within the system and remains confident of winning the election.
