The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially inaugurated its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee as preparations begin for the 2026–2030 Executive Committee elections.
The inauguration ceremony was conducted on Thursday, April 2, at the federation’s secretariat in Abuja by NFF President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau. He charged members of both committees to carry out their duties with fairness, transparency, and strict impartiality.
Speaking on behalf of the committees, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Matthew Burka’a, expressed confidence in the process and assured stakeholders of a credible outcome.
“We are committed to handling this responsibility with the utmost diligence. On behalf of all members, I assure the NFF, Nigerians, and the global football community of a free, fair, and transparent electoral process that will be widely accepted,” he stated.
Burka’a also acknowledged the significant local and international attention on the elections—including oversight from FIFA, CAF, and the Nigerian football community—adding that the committees are determined to deliver one of the most credible elections in the federation’s history.
The Electoral Committee comprises Matthew Burka’a, Alhaji Babagoni Grema, Alhaji Bature Musa, Ayibaye Peter Great Temedie, and Hon. (Dr) Akogun Olugbenga Omole. Arinze Azubuike Anughele and Abayomi Akin Omoyimi will serve as alternate members.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Appeals Committee includes Hon. Justice C. J. Aneke, Barrister Benjamin Sati, and Professor Abdulmalik Awwal, with Emmanuel Dada Obafemi and Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam as alternate members.
NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, will serve as secretary to both committees in line with the federation’s statutes.
The elections into the NFF Executive Committee are scheduled for Saturday, September 26, in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Among those present at the inauguration were Director General of the National Institute for Sports, Philip Shaibu, NFF First Vice President Felix Anyansi-Agwu, Executive Committee members Silas Agara and George Aluo, along with other senior officials of the federation.
