Media entrepreneur and publisher Dele Momodu has debunked reports claiming he plans to run as vice-presidential candidate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, stating clearly that he has no intention of contesting any elective position.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Momodu described the circulating claim as misleading and a distraction, urging his supporters and party members to disregard it.
“When I first saw the poster, I treated it as a joke meant to divert attention. I appeal to my friends and supporters to ignore it,” he said.
He further clarified that he is stepping away from electoral contests and instead focusing on supporting a broader opposition alliance aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I’m not running for any office again. My priority now is to support the coalition of political parties working together to unseat the APC,” he added.
Momodu noted that he would back candidates within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that the party has capable leaders fit to contest for top positions.
His remarks come amid increasing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as opposition figures explore coalition strategies to challenge the APC.
He also criticised what he described as unfair attacks on Atiku, while calling for more respectful political engagement across party lines, including toward President Bola Tinubu.
Momodu reiterated that his focus remains on strengthening opposition unity and supporting whichever candidate eventually emerges through the coalition process.
