Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has expressed confidence that voters in the state will support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the governor said he expects strong voter turnout in favour of Tinubu, projecting as many as 2.5 million votes from the state.
“I am confident we will deliver about 2.5 million votes. The support is already visible, and people are ready to vote for Asiwaju,” he said.
Responding to a question on whether the support is tied to his administration, Okpebholo pointed to ongoing projects and financial backing from the federal government as key factors influencing public sentiment.
He noted that funds released by the Tinubu-led administration to states have helped drive development, which he believes is resonating with residents.
“This level of support and development is something Edo has not experienced before,” he added.
The governor also reflected on the 2023 election, where Peter Obi secured victory in the state, attributing the outcome to dissatisfaction with the administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki at the time.
According to him, many voters used the election to express their discontent, a situation he believes will change in 2027.
