BRAKING : Senator Ningi Dumps PDP After 28 Years

Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, who represents Bauchi Central Senatorial District, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after spending about 28 years in the party.

According to reports, Ningi conveyed his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ningi Ward in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The senator explained that his decision came after extensive consultations with political stakeholders, loyalists, friends and supporters. Having joined the PDP in 1998, Ningi noted that he had dedicated over two decades to the party.

During his time in the PDP, he served two terms in the House of Representatives and also completed two terms as senator under the party’s platform.

Ningi described the PDP as a party that was once regarded as the biggest political platform in Africa, recognised for its strong ideology, unity and commitment to democratic principles that encouraged inclusive governance.

However, he lamented that persistent leadership crises, internal disputes and factional struggles had gradually weakened the party’s structure and unity.

“It is deeply troubling to see a once vibrant and united platform reduced to a disorganised body plagued by leadership wrangling and conflicting factional interests,” he stated.

The senator admitted that quitting the PDP was one of the toughest choices of his political life, stressing that the party had provided him the platform to serve both his constituents and Nigeria honourably.

He also appreciated PDP leaders at various levels for their support throughout his political journey.

“As I continue my political journey outside the Peoples Democratic Party, please accept my warm regards,” Ningi concluded.
