Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially secured the presidential nomination form of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The nomination form was collected on Amaechi’s behalf on Friday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja by a delegation led by former Edo State Governor, John Odigie-Oyegun, alongside other prominent political figures.
The forms were presented to the delegation by the ADC Deputy National Organising Secretary, Atiku Mohammed.
With this development, Amaechi becomes the second aspirant to officially join the ADC presidential race, following the earlier purchase of expression of interest and nomination forms by Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
The ADC has recently been grappling with internal leadership disputes and multiple court cases, which have reportedly affected the party’s stability.
The crisis also contributed to the departure of some notable politicians, including former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, both of whom defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
However, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, insisted that the exit of Obi and Kwankwaso was a planned political move and not connected to the party’s internal challenges.
Despite the ongoing disputes and legal battles, the ADC National Chairman, David Mark, has assured party members that the party remains committed to participating fully in the 2027 general elections.
