The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2026/27 academic session.
The decision was announced on Monday during the board’s policy meeting held in Abuja, following a voting process involving vice-chancellors present at the gathering.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, alongside other stakeholders in Nigeria’s education sector.
JAMB also approved 100 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into polytechnics, while Colleges of Nursing will admit candidates with a minimum score of 150.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has introduced a new policy exempting candidates seeking admission into Federal Colleges of Education from sitting for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Speaking at the meeting, Alausa explained that the exemption would also cover candidates applying for programmes in technology, agriculture and related fields.
According to the minister, the policy is designed to improve access to critical education and skill-based programmes across the country.
He, however, clarified that candidates seeking admission under the new arrangement must still possess the required O’Level qualifications.
In a related update, JAMB also disclosed that candidates applying for Education courses and Agriculture-related non-engineering programmes would no longer be required to sit for the UTME.
The board made the announcement through a post shared on its official 𝕏 account during the ongoing admissions policy meeting in Abuja.
