Gbenga Daniel Fires Back At Dapo Abiodun Over Airport Project

Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Gbenga Daniel, has claimed that Governor Dapo Abiodun is currently benefiting from projects and groundwork laid during his administration.

Speaking during an appearance on TVC News programme Beyond The Headlines with Nifemi, Daniel reacted to the ongoing airport project in Ogun State, insisting that he initiated the process and secured the operational licence long before the current administration continued the project.

According to the former governor, the most difficult aspects of the airport development had already been completed before Abiodun took over, adding that the actual construction phase was the easiest part.

Daniel stated that his administration handled the environmental assessments, project design, land acquisition, stakeholder engagements, and the process of obtaining the aviation licence despite limited financial resources.

He questioned whether the current governor understood the challenges involved in securing approvals for the airport project, including meetings with several presidents and authorities to obtain the necessary licence.

The senator further alleged that Governor Abiodun merely inherited the licence and proceeded to award the construction contract before taking public credit for the project.

Daniel also reflected on political tensions in the state, warning that certain actions and alliances could negatively affect any administration if not properly managed.
