Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reportedly been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre in connection with an alleged cybercrime case involving fellow actress Mercy Johnson.
Naija News reports that filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi first shared the news on his Instagram page.
According to reports, Okorie was taken into custody at her Lagos residence and held overnight at Yaba Panti, as there were no immediate flights to Abuja. She was later placed on an early morning flight to the Federal Capital Territory, where she is expected to appear in court regarding the matter linked to Mercy Johnson.
The arrest follows years of public tension between the two actresses. Angela Okorie and Mercy Johnson have previously engaged in repeated online disputes, exchanging accusations and counterclaims across social media.
Angela has, at various times, acknowledged that some of her remarks were made in anger and emotional distress. She admitted reflecting on her past actions and expressed regret for the way the conflicts unfolded.
Despite these reflections, tensions reignited online, with Angela making multiple statements about Mercy Johnson, including spiritual and personal claims.
The alleged cybercrime case is believed to stem from these online exchanges, which reportedly caught the attention of law enforcement authorities.
