A former member of the House of Representatives, Dapo Lam-Adesina, has stated that the peaceful conduct of the recent congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State demonstrates the party’s readiness to reclaim power in the state during the 2027 general elections.
Lam-Adesina also praised the emergence of new party executives during the congress, describing the development as an important step toward strengthening the APC ahead of the next electoral cycle.
During the congress held on Tuesday, party members elected Moses Adeyemo as the new chairman of the APC in Oyo State.
Adeyemo, an indigene of Igboho, previously served as deputy governor under the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi, from 2011 to 2019.
Party stakeholders believe his emergence will reinforce the party’s structure in the state as preparations begin for future elections.
In a statement released on Thursday through his media office, Lam-Adesina said the smooth conduct of the congresses across wards, local government areas, and the state level reflected unity among party members.
He added that Adeyemo’s emergence through consensus highlighted the level of harmony within the party and positioned the APC for greater achievements.
According to him, the new chairman’s wealth of experience in governance and politics would help reposition the party and boost its chances in the next election.
“Congratulations to our dear father and the new chairman of the APC in Oyo State. His emergence is undoubtedly the beginning of a new chapter for the party,” Lam-Adesina said.
“He brings years of political and administrative experience that will help lead the party to victory.”
The former lawmaker expressed confidence that the APC would reclaim control of Oyo State from the opposition in the 2027 elections.
“This is the moment for us to take the state back from the opposition, and we are prepared to do so with the new chairman and his executives leading the way,” he added.
Meanwhile, the APC has released an updated timetable for its nationwide congresses, national convention, and other related activities.
According to the schedule signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, appeals arising from the congresses were slated to be heard on Wednesday, March 4.
The sale and submission of forms for the zonal congresses and the party’s national convention will take place between March 13 and March 16.
The party also fixed March 23 for the inauguration of Zonal Congress Screening and Appeal Committees, as well as the conduct of the zonal congresses and the establishment of appeal panels for both the zonal congresses and the national convention.
