Nollywood actress Ashabi Simple has explained the circumstances that led her to involve the police in the arrest of controversial singer Portable.
Naija News reports that the singer was earlier taken into police custody after Ashabi, who is also his baby mama, lodged a complaint against him. A video that later circulated online showed Portable in handcuffs at a police station, visibly distressed.
Speaking on the incident, Ashabi said the trouble began during the festive period when Portable allegedly confronted her and members of her family in public. She claimed he threatened them with an axe and forcefully demanded their mobile phones.
According to her, the situation escalated when Portable allegedly struck her brother in the eye, leaving it swollen and still shut as of now.
She further alleged that the singer slapped her sister over an online comment the sister made about him, which he reportedly found offensive.
Ashabi also recounted that after she fled the initial confrontation, Portable later located her and confronted her again while allegedly wielding an axe.
She claimed that during the encounter, he brought out a pot, poured water on her and began chanting words she could not understand, an experience she said left her badly shaken.
Ashabi said the series of incidents made her fear for her safety and that of her family, prompting her decision to report the matter to the police.
