The Assemblies of God Church has issued a directive prohibiting its pastors from marrying outside the denomination.
The announcement was made by the church’s General Superintendent, Rev. Abel Amadi, during the 2026 Leaders’ Retreat held at Evangel Camp, Okpoto, Ebonyi State. He instructed district presbyteries to strictly enforce the policy, stressing that approval must not be granted to any pastor who intends to marry a non-member of the Assemblies of God.
Rev. Amadi encouraged pastors in search of spouses to look within the church across different states, assuring them that God would provide a suitable partner to support their ministry.
He clarified that the rule applies only to pastors and does not affect regular church members.
