Former senator Ayo Adeseun has resigned from his position as Mayegun of Ogbomoso following his suspension by the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Olaoye Ghandi.
Adeseun said his decision was influenced by what he described as the monarch’s harsh leadership style and policies that have caused division within the community. He accused the traditional ruler of fueling tension through religious and political actions.
He also referenced ongoing legal disputes involving the Chief Imam, insisting such matters should be handled by the courts rather than through palace intervention.
In his resignation letter dated March 31, 2026, Adeseun further alleged that the monarch had clashed with other traditional rulers and community leaders, actions he said disrupted peace and unity in Ogbomoso.
The palace had earlier suspended him indefinitely on March 23, citing insubordination and disrespect for the throne.
Adeseun, however, maintained that disputes in Ogbomosoland should be resolved through the rule of law, stating he would not engage further with the monarch.
