Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine turns himself in at Brooklyn jail to begin three-month sentence
American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, born Daniel Hernandez, surrendered to authorities on Tuesday, January 6, reporting to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, at his scheduled time of 2 p.m.
The rapper is set to serve a 90-day jail term after being sentenced for violating the conditions of his supervised release. The facility is the same detention center currently holding several high-profile inmates.
Hernandez was originally indicted in 2018 in a federal racketeering case involving a criminal group he was associated with. He later pleaded guilty to conspiracy and related charges and testified against other members of the group in exchange for leniency.
