The BBC plans to ask a court to throw out U.S. President Donald Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against the British broadcaster, court papers show. Trump filed a lawsuit in December over the way the BBC edited a speech he gave on Jan. 6, 2021. The claim, filed in a Florida federal court, seeks $5 billion in damages for defamation and $5 billion for unfair trade practices. Operatives of the police command in Katsina State have intercepted a Golf vehicle carrying a large cache of highly explosive materials at a checkpoint in Koza, Daura local government area. The spokesperson of the command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this to newsmen, on Tuesday,  January 13. The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Goodnews Iberi, from Rumuakunde Community in Emohua Local Government Area, in connection with the kidnapping and killing of Rita Special Eleonu, a 25-year-old woman from Rumuekini Community in Obio/Akpor LGA. According to the police, the incident was reported on December 29, 2025, by the victim’s brother. Investigations revealed that on December 13, 2025, Iberi and four accomplices, who are currently at large, allegedly lured Rita to the Rumuakunde area of Emohua, where she was kidnapped and taken to a forest along the East–West Road.
