Suspected terrorists have attacked a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing at least three officers and injuring two others. The early morning assault, which occurred around 1 a.m. on Saturday, triggered panic among residents, many of whom fled their homes as heavy gunfire echoed across the agrarian community. Thousands of demonstrators recently took to the streets across several of South Africa’s major cities to protest against immigration, amid rising tensions and renewed concerns over xenophobic violence. According to Sky News, crowds gathered in key urban centres, voicing frustration over what they described as the growing strain on public resources. Protesters accused undocumented migrants of taking jobs, accessing limited healthcare, and placing additional pressure on housing and other essential services. The US government is moving to place stricter conditions on financial assistance to Nigeria, with the House Committee on Appropriations recommending a 50 percent cut in aid and developmental assistance to the Federal Government over escalating insecurity and religious violence.  If passed into law, the National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations Bill, 2027, would see Nigeria lose access to billions of dollars already earmarked by Washington for fiscal years 2027 through 2028. Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, said on Friday that his administration had employed about 10,000 workers across different sectors in the last three and a half years.
