Chelsea head coach, Liam Rosenior, has emphasised that the club will look into the circumstances surrounding the leak of their lineup prior to the recent 5-2 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Blues suffered a disheartening loss in their UEFA Champions League round of 16 first-leg match against PSG. They allowed three goals in the last 16 minutes, putting their chances of continuing in the tournament at risk.
Bradley Barcola initiated the scoring in the 10th minute, but Malo Gusto equalized 18 minutes later. The hosts regained the lead through reigning Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele in the 40th minute.
In the second half, Enzo Fernandez netted Chelsea’s second equalizer in the 57th minute. However, a mistake by Blues goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen led to a late collapse, with Vitinha scoring PSG’s third goal in the 74th minute. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia added a remarkable brace in the final 10 minutes of the match.
Following the conclusion of the Champions League match at Parc des Princes, Rosenior was questioned about the lineup leak during his post-match press conference.
He responded to The Chelsea Chronicles, saying, “I wasn’t aware. I’m sure we’ll get to the bottom of that if that’s the case.”
Rosenior’s team will next compete against Newcastle United in a Premier League home match on Saturday, before hosting PSG again next Tuesday..
Chelsea are set to launch an internal investigation after their starting lineup was reportedly leaked ahead of their heavy loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
The English club is concerned that the team selection became public before kickoff, raising questions about how the information was disclosed. Club officials are now looking into the incident to determine the source of the leak.
The development comes after PSG delivered a dominant performance against Chelsea, leaving the Premier League side with a difficult task ahead of the return leg scheduled for next Tuesday.
