Desola Afod, wife of Nollywood actor Kunle Afod, has spoken out amid growing online criticism surrounding her association with Fuji musician Malaika.
The mother of four took to her Instagram page to address those making negative comments about her, stating that she has chosen peace and is leaving judgment in God’s hands.
“To everyone speaking ill of me @desolaafod, I choose peace, and I leave the rest to God to judge you and your business. Read that again,” she wrote.
The backlash began after some social media users accused Desola of embarrassing her husband by openly associating with the singer. While one follower advised her to keep the relationship private, she rejected the suggestion.
Desola told critics that people often react negatively when someone relates with individuals they consider to be on a higher level. She added that she would not address any rumours, saying she is “matching energy” this year.
She later shared another video featuring herself and Malaika, noting that growing up in a polygamous home prepares one for the realities of life. According to her, she understands how social media operates and is ready to confront online trolls head-on.
This is not the first time the Afod family has faced online speculation. In 2024, Kunle Afod denied rumours that he impregnated a woman in Mushin, describing the alleged individual as fictitious. Around the same period, another claim surfaced accusing him of having an affair in Ibadan.
Desola publicly stood by her husband during those controversies, stating that she would not leave her marriage despite any challenges.
While celebrating Kunle Afod’s 50th birthday, she also reflected on the difficulties of being married to a public figure, admitting it had not been easy but affirming that divorce was never an option, as she remains committed to her family.
