Ex-Ganduje Aide Yakasai Defects from APC to ADC

A former media aide to ex-Kano State governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Salihu Yakasai, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Yakasai announced his defection in a statement shared on Facebook on Monday, explaining that the decision followed wide consultations with family members, friends, and political associates.

He confirmed that he has formally submitted his resignation from the APC and completed his registration with the ADC, describing the move as the beginning of a new political journey.

He also encouraged interested individuals to join the ADC, expressing hope that the party would deliver effective governance and serve the interests of Nigerians.

Yakasai had earlier exited the APC in 2022 to align with the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), where he contested in the 2023 governorship election, before later returning to the ruling party.

His latest defection comes amid increasing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the ADC recently gaining momentum following the defection of several prominent politicians, including nine senators earlier in March 2026.
