Former Kano State governor, Kabiru Gaya, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to reports, Gaya announced his decision in a letter addressed to the party’s ward chairman in Gaya Arewa, within Gaya Local Government Area of Kano State.

His resignation marks the end of a long-standing relationship with the party, where he served in various leadership roles over the years.

Gaya, who represented Kano South in the Senate from 2015 to 2023, said his decision followed extensive consultations and careful consideration.

He explained that stepping away from the party aligns with both his personal convictions and what he believes is best for his constituents.

While announcing his exit, he expressed appreciation to the APC for the opportunities and support he received throughout his political career, particularly during his time as a senator.

In his words, he formally resigned from the party effective April 5, 2026, describing his time under its platform as an honour and thanking members for their cooperation and support over the years.
