Fresh Trouble for El-Rufai as ICPC Traces Multiple Properties to Him in Egypt (Full List)

More challenges have emerged for former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, after the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) reportedly uncovered several properties in Egypt allegedly linked to him.

The real estate assets are believed to be part of the ongoing investigation by the anti-graft agency into activities that occurred during El-Rufai’s time as governor of Kaduna State.

According to reports, the properties include three villas and six apartments situated in upscale neighbourhoods in Cairo.

Checks by TheCable indicate that villas in Arabella Estate and Banafsik Estate, both located in New Cairo, typically sell for between $1 million and $1.3 million. Apartments in Cairo Festival City, on the other hand, are said to cost about $500,000 each.

Sources involved in the investigation claim the properties were acquired between 2021 and 2023 while El-Rufai was still serving as governor.

The properties allegedly linked to him include a villa at Arabella Estate in the 5th Settlement area of Cairo, another villa at Banafsik Estate in the 1st Settlement area of New Cairo, and a third villa in Oriana II, New Cairo, near the American University in Cairo.

In addition, investigators reportedly traced four apartments to him in Cairo Festival City and two others in Oriana Estate, New Cairo.

The ICPC is currently probing El-Rufai over alleged financial misappropriation during his tenure as Kaduna State governor from 2015 to 2023.

He has been in ICPC custody since February 18, 2026. Prior to his detention, El-Rufai was also questioned by the Department of State Services (DSS) over his allegation that the phone of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, had been tapped.
