Popular Fuji musician Saheed Osupa has stirred controversy after openly stating that he uses traditional spiritual practices to enhance his success.
The singer made the remark during a live performance at the 52nd birthday celebration of veteran actor Fatai Odua, also known as Lalude, on March 30, 2026.
In a video that has since gone viral, Osupa was seen advising his backup singers to adopt similar practices to improve their performance, particularly their ability to keep up with his delivery on stage. He clarified that such practices are not meant for harm but as a means of personal advancement.
The artiste further revealed that he had previously been advised to deny involvement in such practices but chose to be open about it, insisting he has never used them for wrongdoing.
His comments have triggered mixed reactions, especially among religious figures, with some Islamic clerics rejecting his claims and urging him to focus on faith instead.
In response to the backlash, Osupa maintained that he respects both Islam and Christianity, stressing that his views do not undermine any religious beliefs, even as he criticised what he described as insincere religious practices among some people.
