Abia State Governor Alex Otti has fulfilled his promise by paying ₦25 million toward the medical treatment of veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu, who is currently battling an undisclosed illness.
The 62-year-old actress recently appealed to Nigerians for ₦30 million to cover the cost of three urgent surgeries, saying she could no longer afford her treatment. In an emotional Instagram video, she urged fans, colleagues, and well-wishers not to abandon her during the difficult period.
Following the appeal, Governor Otti approved financial assistance to support her treatment.
Providing an update on Thursday, the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Justice Okey Martins (JMartins), announced via his X account that the governor had directed the payment to be made directly into the hospital’s account.
According to JMartins, the payment was completed before the close of business on Wednesday, describing the gesture as a demonstration of Governor Otti’s compassion and commitment.
He also expressed gratitude to the governor for keeping his promise and supporting the veteran actress during her medical challenge.
