Alhaji Lai Mohammed, former Minister of Information and Culture, has claimed he used a strategic two-pronged approach to support President Bola Tinubu’s win in the 2023 elections.
Mohammed revealed this in his newly launched book, “Headlines and Soundbites: Media Moments that Defined an Administration”, which recounts his experiences as a minister under the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
He explained, “Fully aware of the insidious nature of political campaigns, I implemented a two-pronged strategy: to systematically highlight the administration’s achievements and counter opposition misinformation.”
Mohammed said that exactly 130 days before the general elections, on October 18, 2023, his ministry launched the PMB Administration Scorecard Series (2015–2023). The initiative aimed to showcase verified accomplishments of the Buhari administration and influence public perception during a critical political period.
Under the program, ministers provided evidence-based reports on their sectors, and each session included interactive question-and-answer segments where journalists critically examined the presentations.
