Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has said it would be impossible for her husband, Matthew Ekeinde, to walk away from their marriage.
Speaking during an interview on the Afropolitan Podcast, the actress revealed that divorce has never been an option in their over 30-year union.
Omotola attributed the longevity of their marriage to her husband’s selflessness, lack of ego, and the strong trust they have built over the years.
She explained that in their three decades together, she has never had to confront another woman over her husband, noting that such issues have never existed in their relationship.
The actress also stressed that marriage is a personal journey and that her experience should not be seen as a standard for others.
According to her, even the thought of leaving the marriage feels unrealistic because of the deep bond they share. She added that even if she were to walk away someday, she would still remain a significant part of her husband’s life.
Omotola said their closeness makes it difficult for anyone to come between them, explaining that she has known her husband since she was 16 and finds it hard to imagine anything that could make her resent him.
She added that their level of connection means neither of them could easily cut ties with the other, joking that even if she left, any future partner in his life would still have to deal with her presence.
