Okpebholo: Massive Infrastructure Drive Is Laying the Foundation for a New Edo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, says his administration is steadily building a new Edo State anchored on effective governance, large-scale infrastructure development and economic growth.

Governor Okpebholo made the statement on Thursday while speaking to journalists after inspecting several ongoing road and drainage projects across the Edo South Senatorial District.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality and speed of work on the projects, particularly those along Sapele Road and its adjoining corridors, noting that the visible changes reflect his government’s commitment to transforming the state’s development landscape.

“We inspected many projects today and work is progressing steadily. I am particularly impressed with what we have seen so far, especially along Sapele Road,” the governor said.

He added that a visit to the area clearly shows the impact of his administration’s efforts.

A statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Akhere Ebojele, said Okpebholo, accompanied by the Special Adviser on Projects Implementation and Monitoring, Engr. Phoebe Williams-Bello, toured projects across several communities.

The areas inspected include Evbhukhu, Amagba, Ohoghobi, Oghehe, Old Sapele Road, Sapele Road Bypass, Uhie Road, Okhabere, the flyover at Adesuwa Junction, Charismatic Renewal Road, Ugbiyoko, Oghede Upper Ekenhuan Road, among others.

The statement noted that the governor has consistently carried out unscheduled inspection visits to ensure contractors adhere strictly to approved designs, quality standards and project timelines.

“Our administration is driving growth and development across Edo State, and the results are becoming evident,” Okpebholo said.

At Charismatic Renewal Road, the governor observed significant improvement in construction quality compared to his previous visit, describing the progress as impressive.

Reaffirming his commitment to improving the welfare of residents, Okpebholo said the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is already yielding positive results in Edo State.

He reiterated his pledge to turn the state into a major construction hub, stressing that extensive road and drainage projects are ongoing across all three senatorial districts.

According to the governor, the projects are aimed at opening up communities, enhancing connectivity, boosting economic activities and bringing governance closer to the people, with a focus on practical, people-oriented development that supports long-term growth.
