Popular Nigerian Gospel Singer Taiwo Adegbodu Passes Away

Nigerian gospel artiste Taiwo Adegbodu has died, Naija News reports.

Adegbodu was one half of the celebrated gospel duo, Adegbodu Twins, alongside his brother Kehinde Adegbodu.

News of his passing surfaced on Sunday morning and was confirmed by fellow gospel singer Esther Igbekele via a message on her Instagram page.

Sharing his photo, Igbekele wrote, “Erin wo, Ajanaku sun bi oke. Hard to bear. Goodnight, bro.”

The death was also announced on the Adegbodu Twins JP Facebook page. As of the time of filing this report, the cause of death had not been disclosed.

An emotional tribute posted on the page expressed deep grief, questioning why he left his children and loved ones so suddenly and describing the loss as overwhelming.

Taiwo and Kehinde rose to prominence in the Yoruba gospel music scene following the release of their debut album, Faratimi (Lean on Me), in 1999. The project propelled them into the limelight and marked the beginning of their impactful journey in gospel music.

Over the years, the duo became widely recognised for spiritually uplifting songs deeply rooted in Yoruba culture. Some of their notable tracks include Shower Your Blessing, God Concert, Emi Mimo, Igbagbo Dun, Ma Beru, and Adura Mi Gba. Their music resonated across churches and gospel events within and beyond their home state.

In recognition of their contributions to the entertainment industry, the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, appointed the twins as Special Advisers on Entertainment and Tourism.
