Joseph Aloba, the father of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has claimed that influential individuals are attempting to obstruct efforts to conduct a DNA test to confirm the paternity of his son’s child.
He reiterated that Mohbad will not be buried until the test is completed to determine whether Liam Aloba is truly the singer’s biological son.
A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, had previously ordered a DNA test following an application filed by Aloba, with Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga granting the request.
However, in a video shared on TikTok, Aloba alleged that certain powerful figures are working behind the scenes to delay or frustrate the process. He expressed concern over the situation, especially after the toxicology report failed to provide clear conclusions.
He also questioned the credibility of the DNA testing facility selected for the exercise.
Aloba revealed that he is considering moving the case out of Lagos State, possibly to Ekiti State, and plans to consult his lawyer on the next steps to ensure fairness.
While appealing to the Lagos State Government to allow his son’s burial, he insisted that it cannot proceed without the DNA test, describing it as a crucial part of establishing the truth.
Mohbad passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances that sparked nationwide reactions. Since then, legal disputes have continued over issues surrounding his death, estate, music royalties, and the paternity of his child, Liam, who was born in April 2023.
