The ongoing feud between Seun Kuti and Wizkid has intensified after Seun criticised the singer for having a tattoo of his late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, on his arm.
During an Instagram live session, Seun told Wizkid to remove the tattoo, suggesting he should instead ink an image of his own father. He warned that keeping Fela’s tattoo could hinder Wizkid from achieving greatness in life.
“Remove my father’s tattoo from your arm and replace it with your father’s head. If you don’t, you will never use your hands to do great things,” Seun said.
The clash began when Seun objected to comparisons between Wizkid and Fela, arguing that such claims diminish his father’s legacy. He maintained that Fela’s influence as a political and cultural activist far exceeds music success alone.
Seun has also criticised Wizkid’s fans for constantly invoking Fela’s name in online debates, describing their actions as disrespectful and historically misguided.
While acknowledging Wizkid’s success as an artiste, Seun questioned why there is a need to portray him as greater than Fela. He further accused Wizkid of copying his nickname “Big Bird,” which he claims was already associated with him.
In response, Wizkid took to Instagram to distance himself from the comparisons, insisting that while he respects Fela’s legacy, he considers himself bigger in terms of modern-day success.
