Rice, Gabriel Return Boost Arsenal Ahead of Sporting Clash

Arsenal FC have received a major boost ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash against Sporting CP, with Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhães returning to training.

Rice had withdrawn from the England squad during the March international break following a medical issue and missed Arsenal’s FA Cup quarter-final loss to Southampton. Gabriel was also sidelined after sustaining a knee injury in the same match.

Both players trained with the squad at London Colney on Monday as manager Mikel Arteta prepared his team for the trip to Lisbon.

There was further positive news as Leandro Trossard took part in training, although Bukayo Saka remains unavailable after leaving international duty early.

Arsenal head into the encounter aiming to recover from recent setbacks, including their FA Cup exit and a Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City.

Despite those disappointments, the Gunners are still in a strong domestic position, holding a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. They will resume their title campaign against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.

Arteta and goalkeeper David Raya are scheduled to speak to the media in Portugal ahead of the crucial European fixture.
