Popular Nollywood actress Ajara Lasisi, widely known as Aunty Ajara, has been buried amid tears and prayers.
Naija News reports that the petite actress was laid to rest on Thursday in line with Islamic rites, as family members, colleagues, and members of her community gathered to bid her farewell.
Videos from the burial ceremony that surfaced online showed mourners standing solemnly around her grave while a Muslim cleric performed the final burial prayers.
The burial marked the final goodbye to an actress many described as humble, dedicated, and hardworking, whose impact on Nollywood will not be forgotten.
Before her passing, Aunty Ajara had been battling a serious illness. During that period, several Nollywood colleagues, including Wunmi Toriola, Foluke Daramola, Mama Nonetwork, and others, appealed to the public for financial support to assist with her medical treatment.
Confirming her death, Nollywood actor TeeMony announced in an Instagram post on Thursday that Aunty Ajara passed away on February 5, 2026. He thanked everyone who supported her with prayers, encouragement, and donations during her illness.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved actress, Aunty Ajara,” the post read. “She passed on overnight after a long and courageous battle with illness.
“Throughout this difficult time, Ajara was shown overwhelming love, prayers, and financial support from kind people around the world. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who stood by her with compassion, encouragement, and generosity.
“At this point, we kindly ask family, friends, and the general public to stop sending money to the previously shared account, as it is no longer needed.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, loved ones, and all those mourning this painful loss. May her soul rest in perfect peace.”
