Tragedy has struck the University of Lagos community following the death of a young Law graduate just one day after she participated in her convocation ceremony.
According to Naija News, the heartbreaking development came to public attention through a post on social media platform X, shared by a user identified as @plantcodesss.
The deceased was a member of the University of Lagos Law graduating class of 2023. The institution had held its 2024/2025 convocation ceremony on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, bringing together graduates from various faculties to mark the completion of their academic journey.
Sadly, it was reported shortly after the ceremony that one of the newly graduated students from the Faculty of Law had died less than 24 hours after the celebration.
In the emotional post, the social media user described the late graduate as strong and inspiring, noting that she had faced health challenges in the past but continued to motivate those around her.
She also mentioned her sister, Evidence, who consistently supported and believed the graduate would recover after seeing her in a difficult condition some time ago.
According to the post, the young woman was visibly happy during the convocation and deserved to be honoured for completing her studies despite the obstacles she endured.
The user wrote: “You did your convocation yesterday and today you’re no more. You deserve to be celebrated and you will be. My sister, Evidence was always rooting for you, and after seeing you in that miserable condition the last time, I hoped you’d get better. I know you’re smiling from where you are because ‘UNILAG didn’t end you.’ You ended UNILAG, in joy.”
