Salah Open to Saudi Switch as Agent Holds Talks with Al Ittihad

Fresh transfer rumours have surfaced around Mohamed Salah, with reports suggesting that his representatives are currently in negotiations with Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad.

According to French outlet Footmercato, via journalist Santi Aouna, Salah’s agent is in active discussions with the Saudi side, and the Liverpool forward is now more receptive to a potential move to the Middle East than he has been in the past.

Saudi Arabia has monitored the Egyptian star for several seasons, but Salah previously turned down such interest, opting to remain at Liverpool during his prime years. Until recently, he was viewed as a key figure at Anfield and reinforced his commitment to the club by extending his contract after the 2024–2025 season.

However, circumstances appear to have changed following a difficult campaign for both Salah and Liverpool. The club endured a disappointing season, while the forward’s form reportedly declined. Tensions became public when Salah voiced frustration over being dropped from the starting line-up, fuelling speculation about his future.

Although the Africa Cup of Nations briefly shifted focus away from transfer talks, recent developments indicate that the prospect of a move remains alive. Unlike in previous years, Salah is now believed to be more open to starting a new chapter in Saudi Arabia.

Such a transfer could suit all parties involved. Liverpool would stand to gain financially from a sizeable transfer fee, while Salah would have greater freedom to shape the next stage of his career.

Al Ittihad, for their part, are keen to strengthen after the departures of Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté during the winter transfer window. With Fabinho’s contract set to expire next June and Moussa Diaby reportedly attracting interest from Inter Milan, the Saudi club is under pressure to bolster its squad.
