Seyi Tinubu, VDM, King Mitchy Controversy: NCC, NBC Urged To Sanction Content Creators — Akinlosotu

Public affairs analyst and activist, Blessing Akinlosotu, has called on the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to intensify oversight of social media content creators to curb excesses and prevent abuse.

Akinlosotu made the appeal in a statement issued on Tuesday while reacting to the controversy involving Seyi Tinubu, social commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and content creator Mitchel Mukoro, also known as King Mitchy.

Recall that VeryDarkMan alleged that Seyi Tinubu and King Mitchy threatened his life over comments he made concerning a ₦100 million donation.

However, Seyi Tinubu refuted the allegation in a detailed statement released over the weekend.

The dispute further escalated following claims in a separate report that King Mitchy allegedly attempted to take her own life.

Responding to the unfolding drama, Akinlosotu described it as unnecessary for VDM to involve Seyi Tinubu in the matter and criticised King Mitchy over the reported incident.

She urged regulatory bodies to take decisive action, saying:

“I call on the Nigerian Communications Commission, the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission and other relevant agencies to begin paying closer and more serious attention to the kind of content being produced daily by creators across the country.

“There must be firm sanctions, and some individuals may need to be held accountable as a deterrent to others.”
