Renowned businessman and socialite, Obi Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has been formally appointed as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
Iyiegbu announced the development on Tuesday via a statement shared on his Instagram page, revealing that Seyi Tinubu visited his home on Monday night to personally present the appointment certificate.
The Anambra-born entrepreneur said the visit also created room for discussions on a range of national issues.
“Last night, my longtime friend and brother, Seyi Tinubu, came to see me at my residence. We had meaningful conversations about many things,” he said.
Reacting to the mixed public responses surrounding his appointment, Obi Cubana defended his decision, stressing that real and lasting change is achieved through engagement rather than detachment.
“I am well aware of the different reactions this has generated. However, I strongly believe that sustainable change comes from constructive participation, not standing on the sidelines,” he explained.
The nightlife entrepreneur assured that the new role would not affect his values, reiterating his commitment to integrity, community development, and responsible leadership.
“I have come to understand that influence is limited when one stays outside. So yes, here we are. I am a City Boy in every sense,” he stated.
Describing President Bola Tinubu as “a City Boy and a man of business,” Iyiegbu pledged to promote inclusiveness in the discharge of his responsibilities.
“We all need one another to achieve our national goals, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” he added.
He also called for tolerance of differing opinions and encouraged Nigerians to remain focused on creating tangible value for national development.
“Let us respect diverse views, keep our conversations alive, and stay focused on building real value. This is our moment—let’s move,” he concluded.
Obi Cubana thanked his supporters for their goodwill and reaffirmed his commitment to working towards a more inclusive future.
