Nollywood actor Femi Adewole, popularly known as Femi Apefe, has reacted to allegations linking him to the pregnancy of late actress Aunty Ajara.
Reports indicate that the actress died after suffering complications related to pregnancy alongside pre-existing liver problems.
Following news that Aunty Ajara had been pregnant, old video clips featuring her and Apefe resurfaced on social media, prompting speculation and accusations that the actor may have been responsible.
Addressing the claims in a video shared on his Instagram page, Apefe clarified that his relationship with the late actress was purely professional and friendly.
He explained that he first met Aunty Ajara about two years ago and was immediately impressed by her acting skills, which led him to invite her to participate in several film projects.
According to him, their working relationship eventually developed into a friendship, and the actress occasionally visited his home, sometimes arriving on a commercial motorcycle.
Apefe said rumours about the alleged pregnancy stemmed from a comedy skit they recorded together at his house, where Aunty Ajara acted the role of a pregnant woman.
He firmly denied being responsible for any real-life pregnancy, stressing that the only pregnancy he was aware of was the fictional one portrayed in the skit.
The actor also revealed that the late actress sometimes felt insecure about her body size, but he consistently encouraged her and admired her talent.
“I met Aunty Ajara about two years ago and quickly noticed her natural acting ability. I admired her talent and often invited her to join me on movie sets,” he said.
He added that the skit filmed at his house later sparked rumours that she was pregnant with twins in real life.
Apefe, however, distanced himself from the allegations circulating online and expressed deep sadness over the actress’ death, noting that he had always supported her career and encouraged her to keep pursuing her passion for acting.
