Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State have been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of the party’s Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro, barely 24 hours after he was re-elected.
Yesiro secured re-election alongside other party executives during the APC congress held at Onikan Stadium on Tuesday. He was expected to join the newly elected Lagos State APC executive members scheduled for inauguration at the party’s secretariat on Thursday.
In a statement released on Wednesday in Lagos, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, expressed shock and deep sadness over the development, describing Yesiro’s death as a tragic loss to the party.
Oladejo noted that the late party official passed away shortly after being entrusted with the responsibility of serving on the State Executive Council. According to him, Yesiro’s commitment, loyalty and strong belief in the party’s progressive ideals made his loss particularly painful at a time when his energy and dedication were greatly needed.
He added that although his tenure was cut short, Yesiro made a lasting impact on colleagues and party members through his humility, enthusiasm and willingness to serve.
The APC spokesperson also said the party’s leadership and members extend their condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, political associates and supporters during this difficult period.
He prayed that God grants the family the strength to bear the loss and that the late party chieftain’s soul rests in peace.
According to Oladejo, the Lagos APC remains united in mourning the passing of Yesiro, who will be remembered for his service, dedication and contributions to the growth and stability of the party in the state.
