Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has shared light-hearted details of his long-running conversations with his son, Gbolahan, about marriage, revealing that they both share the same taste in women.
Naija News reports that Gbolahan Adeleke recently tied the knot with his wife, Damilola Adio, at a traditional wedding ceremony held in Lagos State last weekend.
In a video from the ceremony that has since gone viral, Governor Adeleke reflected on his discussions with his son about settling down, noting that Gbolahan often joked that he was still “testing” when asked about marriage.
The governor explained that he had closely watched his son’s relationships over the years and was always certain that the women previously introduced to the family were not the right fit.
According to Adeleke, he and his son share the same “spec,” adding that the moment Gbolahan introduced Damilola to him, he knew she was the right choice.
“Adio family, we fixed a date and today it has become a reality,” Adeleke said. “There were several phone calls and visits, even trips to London, to tell you we wanted to marry this lady. My son and I spoke for a long time about when he would bring home a wife. He would say, ‘Daddy, I’m still testing,’ and I kept asking how long he intended to test.”
He continued, “Each time he brought someone home, I would study the situation and tell him, ‘This is not your spec,’ and he would agree. I would then ask him to go and bring his real spec.
“The day he brought Damilola home, I hugged him and said, ‘That’s it.’ So today, I declare that this is the day the Lord has made, and we will all rejoice. I thank the Adio family for accepting us to marry your daughter. She was well brought up when she came to us, and we promise to take good care of her.”
