Popular content creator Iniobong Esther Louis, widely known as Sunshine, will be laid to rest on Wednesday, January 28, in Lagos, following her untimely passing earlier this month.
A funeral announcement shared on Tuesday by her friend and fellow creator, Chidera Madu, revealed that Sunshine’s remains will be moved from the Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, to Atan Cemetery in Yaba for burial.
Sunshine, 34, reportedly died on January 9, 2026, after complications arising from a fibroid surgery. She was a native of Nnung Udoe Itak in Ikono Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
In a statement confirming her death, the family said: “With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved sister and daughter, Esther Thomas, also known as Sunshine, who died on January 9, 2026, following an unsuccessful surgery.”
Madu disclosed that Sunshine began suffering severe abdominal pains on December 28, 2025, which intensified by New Year’s Day. She initially sought treatment at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos, where she was given pain relief due to an ongoing doctors’ strike.
She was later moved to another medical facility on January 2, where tests revealed a large fibroid. Doctors advised immediate surgery, which was performed and initially described as successful.
However, Sunshine reportedly developed complications after the procedure, which ultimately led to her death.
