“We Are Still Ashamed” — Sanwo-Olu Reacts To Tinubu’s 2023 Loss In Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has admitted that leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state remain deeply disappointed by the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Lagos, describing it as a painful setback for the party.

The governor made this known through his Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, during a Ramadan lecture organised by the party on Tuesday.

The event brought together party members for prayers and strategic discussions as they begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Addressing supporters, Ayinde urged party faithful to start early preparations, particularly by registering and collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that voter participation will be crucial in determining future outcomes.

He noted that the party found the 2023 election results in Lagos disappointing and emphasized the need to avoid a repeat in subsequent elections.

Encouraging better organisation and readiness, he said the party must position itself for improved performance in the next polls.

Sanwo-Olu also tied the prospects of the current administration to the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, noting that continued national progress depends on securing another mandate.

He added, “We must not allow a repeat of what happened in 2023. We all need to get our PVCs ready, because that outcome was unacceptable, and we are still ashamed of it.

“We remain genuinely embarrassed by what happened, and to prevent a recurrence, everyone must be fully prepared ahead of the next elections.”
