President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to overcoming banditry and terrorism across Nigeria.
He made the pledge on Saturday while speaking at the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, alongside several other infrastructure projects.
“We will overcome banditry and terrorism. I assure you that we will continue to invest in our people,” the President stated.
Tinubu noted that the deployment of security vehicles at the event underscores the government’s resolve to safeguard lives and property.
“The provision of these vehicles further strengthens our determination to ensure the safety of citizens,” he added.
The President also commended Nigerian youths for their resilience and dedication, expressing optimism about the country’s future.
“Our young people are hardworking, intelligent, and committed. Nigeria is on the path to greatness once again,” he said.
The event, hosted by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, had earlier been postponed due to Tinubu’s visit to Jos, Plateau State, where he sympathised with victims of a recent attack.
Speaking on the newly commissioned airport, Tinubu described it as a major milestone, highlighting its independent power supply driven by investments in gas and energy.
He also praised other projects unveiled at the ceremony, particularly in the areas of mobility, security, and agriculture.
Tinubu described the introduction of 1,000 electric bikes as a forward-thinking transport solution, noting that it embraces modern technology and reduces reliance on fossil fuels.
