A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Okocha, has sparked controversy after claiming that election results were sometimes written in advance and handed to electoral officials for announcement.
Okocha made the remark during a press conference, where he spoke about alleged practices that occurred during his time in political office.
According to the APC chieftain, election outcomes were sometimes prepared beforehand and later submitted to electoral officials for formal declaration.
Okocha said, “Elections could be written inside the chief of staff’s office.
“It was done so in my time; we did so. We write the result and hand it over to the commission; their business is to go and announce.”
The comments have since sparked widespread reactions after a video of the statement circulated on the social media platform 𝕏.
