‘We’ll do everything to stop it’ – APC opposes move to impeach Fubara

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has strongly condemned the attempt by the State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy.

The Assembly had on Thursday initiated impeachment proceedings against the governor over allegations of misconduct. The impeachment notice is expected to be formally served on both the governor and his deputy within seven days.

Reacting to the development, the Rivers APC, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, outrightly rejected the move.

“Our position remains clear: we firmly oppose the decision to embark on an impeachment process against our governor and his deputy,” Nwauju said.

He described the move as unacceptable, noting that the party cannot remain silent while unresolved internal conflicts from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are allowed to spill over and threaten stability.

Nwauju further assured that the APC would take all necessary steps to prevent any disruption to the administration of Rivers State, stressing that the party would not allow an APC-led government to be undermined.
