Why Tattoos Are Not Sinful – Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo

Popular relationship coach and pastor of David’s Christian Centre, Kingsley Okonkwo, has questioned the widespread belief that tattoos are sinful for Christians, stating that there is no biblical or scientific basis for such claims.

Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, Okonkwo explained that resistance to tattoos is often rooted in personal opinions, church doctrines, or individual interpretations, rather than clear scriptural teachings.

He noted that many people label tattoos as a moral issue without offering concrete reasons, describing such assumptions as misleading and unfair when unsupported by evidence.

The pastor also cautioned against judging people based on their appearance, saying this mindset hinders growth and understanding. He likened the stigma around tattoos to blaming clothing for criminal acts, asking whether jeans should be considered evil simply because someone wore them while committing a robbery.

According to Okonkwo, tattoos do not define a person’s character, stressing that both good and bad individuals can have tattoos. He added that judging people by outward appearance instead of values and conduct is deeply flawed.

He further connected this attitude to the church’s reluctance to engage in politics, arguing that labeling certain spaces as “impure” causes believers to withdraw, leaving important societal roles to those deemed unfit.

Okonkwo urged Christians to prioritize faith, character, and actions rather than cultural norms or physical appearance when assessing others.

The pastor recently stirred online discussion after revealing a Bible-themed tattoo on his arm, inspired by John 3:16.
