‘You Cannot Intimidate Us’ — Anu’s Mother Pushes Back Against Adeleke Family

The mother of Anu, the 12-year-old girl at the centre of a long-running paternity dispute involving Afrobeats star Davido, has accused the Adeleke family of intimidation, manipulation and abuse of influence, while rejecting claims that further DNA tests were carried out in 2020.

In a strongly worded statement released late Wednesday, she expressed shock that her sister, Titilayo Labinjoh, had allegedly been in contact with Davido’s father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, since the COVID-19 period.

According to her, Titilayo recently called their mother from Abuja, expressing fear over the renewed media attention surrounding the case and complaints from colleagues at her workplace, a situation she said was unfair to Anu, who bears the brunt of the controversy.

She also voiced distress over suggestions that her sister may have received money from the Adeleke family, describing the situation as a painful family betrayal and denying any collaboration with blogger Kemi Olunloyo to fuel the allegations.

Clarifying her links with Olunloyo, she said the blogger created a social media page in 2019, uploaded some photos, and later handed it over to the family. She added that she barely used social media for several years and only resumed posting in 2023 during Anu’s 10th birthday, noting that Anu currently lives with her grandmother.

The woman, a trader by profession, dismissed claims that her sister ever asked Olunloyo to stop posting about the child, insisting they do not communicate. She added that her mother independently posts some of Anu’s videos and that the family has had no direct contact with Olunloyo despite her continued public commentary.

She recalled that Olunloyo had publicly supported the family during a 2018 appeal and even held a press conference on their behalf at the time.

In a direct message to Dr. Adeleke, she questioned his decision to speak publicly on Davido’s behalf, insisting that the singer should address her directly rather than through his father. She accused the Adeleke family of leveraging wealth and influence, alleging that someone had been used to monitor her family.

She further warned that any harm to herself, her daughter or her mother should be traced to the Adeleke family.

Addressing conflicting claims over DNA testing, she firmly denied Dr. Adeleke’s assertion that additional tests were conducted in 2020, stating that neither she nor Anu met with him for further testing after the initial process.

She also rejected any suggestion linking Anu to Davido’s cousin, B-Red, saying the child has never met him and that she has not seen B-Red since 2013.

She claimed that suspicions involving B-Red stemmed from questions raised by Kemi Olunloyo during an interview, parts of which have since resurfaced online, and challenged the Adeleke family to release all DNA test results publicly.

Her statement comes less than a day after Dr. Adedeji Adeleke publicly detailed the Adeleke family’s account of the controversy, including claims of multiple DNA tests carried out to determine whether Anuoluwapo is biologically related to Davido.
