Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of behaving like an opposition force against the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking during an appearance on Trust TV’s Daily Politics programme on Friday, Dalung—who is also a member of the ADC—claimed that the electoral body’s actions have positioned it as a political adversary rather than a neutral institution.
He argued that INEC has failed to operate within the bounds of the law, alleging that the commission acts with impunity and without clear legal backing for some of its decisions.
Dalung further stated that despite court rulings, including one involving the suspension of Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), INEC has allegedly refused to comply with judicial orders.
According to him, the commission’s conduct has raised serious concerns about its neutrality and adherence to due process.
