Nigerian content creator Carter Efe has shared details of his long-standing conflict with the mother of his daughter, Charis, while reflecting on his recent rise to the top of Africa’s Twitch scene.
Naija News reports that the 28-year-old, who recently became Africa’s most-followed Twitch streamer with over 500,000 followers following a collaboration with singer Davido, revealed that he endured two years of personal and professional struggles linked to his former partner, identified as Emmanuella.
In a series of Instagram posts, Efe claimed that Emmanuella caused significant disruptions to his life and career, including online allegations of physical abuse pushed by activist Very Dark Man, which he says were baseless. He said the controversy took a toll on his mental health, hindered his content creation, and left him financially unstable for an extended period.
Efe also revealed that he was denied access to his daughter for about three months, a situation he described as deeply painful but not enough to stop him from pursuing his goals. He said the challenges motivated him to work harder, aiming to build a better future for Charis.
Reflecting on his early days, Efe shared that he and his team used to sleep in a single room while streaming to only a handful of viewers, an experience he described as one of the lowest points of his career. He noted that his ex-partner resurfaced only after he achieved success as Africa’s top streamer, contrasting sharply with the lack of support he had during his struggles.
Efe credited God for his progress, emphasizing that he remained intentional and committed to his work despite feeling abandoned by those close to him. He also mentioned that he has been single for over a year and has experienced major positive changes in his life since then.
